Top Ten Celebrity Chefs: Do You Agree?

September 06 2013 – Robert Fiumara

If you Google “Top Ten Celebrity Chefs of All Time” you will see pages and pages of lists entitled just that. Many of these lists have a number of chefs that they believe belong in the pantheon of celebrity chefdom.  They also have an almost equal number of chefs that spark intense debates.  We, here, at Fiumara Apparel have the utmost respect for all chefs; both those in the lime light as well as those working diligently behind the scenes.  We know all about the hard work, dedication, and passion that go into being at the top of the field. That being said, we’re curious about who YOU think should be on the list.  We have listed a few of our favorites (in no particular order).

Julia Child

This tall, gangly woman broke into the arena of celebrity chefhood and won the hearts of Americans with her down to earth personality, sense of humor, and her ability to make everyone feel as though they could create incredible French masterpieces right in their very own kitchens.  Her cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, is still one of the best selling cook books of all time. Julia Childs remains one of this countries home cooking icons.

Rachel Ray

Not only is she a master at creating a multi-million dollar brand, but Ms. Ray is also the source of more than one controversial debate. This home cook, who has no professional training and who learned everything she knows from a tradition of family dinners and generations of home cooks broke onto the scene and won viewers over with her bubbly exuberance and her kitschy catch phrases like EVOO (for Extra Virgin Olive Oil).  Since her show first aired she has added two other Food Network series, her own line of cooking tools, an Oprah-backed talk show and her own magazine. She is known as one of the hardest working women in the industry.

Anthony Bourdain

More known for his disdain for “celebrity chefs” and his sense of humor about being one himself, Bourdain is most known for his show Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, a show where, oddly enough, he does none of the cooking. Instead, he travels the world searching for the best cuisine not on the beaten path.

Those are three of our favorites. Who is your favorite celebrity chef?
