Attracting Customers in the Summer Season

June 20 2014 – Robert Fiumara

The sun is shining and the skies are clearer than they've been all year! Summer is definitely here, and you should take notice. The summer season is an excellent time to drum up business for any enterprising restaurateur as customers seek to take advantage of their freed up schedules, the bright sunshine, and the longer days that the summer affords them! So what can you do to keep your restaurant bustling with happy summertime patrons?

Summer Is Here!

People love dining outdoors in the summer months and, fortunately for you, doing so from home is quite the hassle.  It requires people to set up a grill or make a table, and to run back and forth from the house to the yard. As a result, the easy way to get an outdoor dining experience without the hassle is to eat out at one the local dining venues.  By visiting your restaurant and dining at one of your outdoor tables, they get the al fresco dining experience they seek, they avoid the setup, and they don’t have to clean the dishes. It’s a win all around! If you seek to provide this experience, you’ll want to do it wisely. Prepare your tables for large groups, and make sure to provide plenty of shade. No one wants to squint their eyes or sweat needlessly!

Offering outdoor seating isn't a viable option for every restaurant and that’s okay. We can’t all have the square footage, or right location to offer such seating. You can still take advantage of the beautiful weather by offering outdoor seating to go and offering picnic specials and encourage people to head outdoors. Make their visit to the park, the beach, or even their own backyard memorable by offering your very best food options. Make it a promotion and you’re sure to get noticed!

The sunshine isn't enough to get people to your business on its own, though. If you truly want a bustling summer crowd, consider offering summertime deals and promotions.  Appeal to the customer base you’re cultivating and style your promotions after the lifestyles of your patrons. If at all possible, capitalize on summertime festivals or gatherings. Events like fairs, parades, and galas all make for excellent marketing opportunities.  These sorts of events often bring travelers from all over the world to your location. Make use of this opportunity, and offer the very best in service.

How Will You Use the Summer Season?

As you can see, with just a few minor adjustments to your service and an eye towards marketing for the season, you can bolster your bottom line easily and effectively with the summertime months. Make it a summer to remember and offer your guests an experience that will create memories for years to come!
